Playfit Strength Bluetooth-Calling Smartwatch Review

Play, an Indian start-up company popular for its accessories has a new Bluetooth calling smartwatch. It is called Playfit Strength and it is available on Amazon for ₹3,999. The smartwatch comes with a large circular display, supports fitness tracking features and features Bluetooth calling as well. But how does it feel like to wear the smartwatch? it is better than the competitors in its segment? Let’s find out.

Built Quality

The Playfit Strength has a large display along with a big bulky design making it look bold and strong. The matte-metal casing around the screen feels sturdy and makes the smartwatch durable. The back panel of the smartwatch is made of plastic and has optical sensors located in the centre. Since the smartwatch weighs 54g, it feels comfortable to wear for long hours. The strap quality is decent, but wish the company could have added another set of straps in the packaging. Users can even take the smartwatch to workouts in the gym or on a run outdoors, as it has an IP67 rating. Moreover, the built quality of the smartwatch justifies its price.

Display

The Playfit Strength has a rounded 1.28-inch LCD with a rugged bezel which can protect the watch from contacting flat surfaces in case it falls. The display quality of the smartwatch is above standard as the colours produced are vibrant. Thanks to the bright display, it is visible in most outdoor situations. In indoor conditions, the display is readable even on minimum brightness.

UI and Watchfaces

To wake up the smartwatch, users have to press the button given on the side. Swiping up on the home screen brings the notifications section. Users can swipe right or left to access all the applications like Heart rate, SpO2, steps, workout and many more. There is a dialer app as well to call or receive calls. There are tons of watch faces available for the Strength Watch. Playfit offers Cloud hosted watchface section on the app where users can search for their favourite watch faces and add them to their watch

Fitness-related features

The Playfit Strength comes with multiple fitness-related features such as heart rate and SpO2 tracking, and sleep monitoring. Let’s start with the better aspects of the device. Upon comparing the heart rate and blood oxygen levels, the results were acceptable. When it comes to tracking steps, the smartwatch is well accurate, but the results could be more consistent. Apart from this, the smartwatch has multiple sports modes that can track activity-specific data. The sports mode include walking, running, cycling and more.

Call quality

The Playfit Strength supports Bluetooth calling and comes with a separate menu that allows users to dial a number, make a call to a saved number or check the call log. During the call, users can control the volume and cut the call. The speakers of Strength are loud enough to hear in a moderate sound environment. Also, the microphone quality is good; even though the receivers could listen to background noise, the speaker’s voice was loud and clear and could be heard over the noise.

Battery Life & Charging

The Playfit Strength comes with a massive 400 mAh battery that lasted more than four days at regular use and up to three days with Bluetooth calling. Additionally, it comes with a proprietary magnetic charger in the box that clings to the back panel of the watch and charges it within two to three hours. The smartwatch lasted for about two and a half while using Bluetooth calling, along with measuring heart rate and SpO2 levels manually.

Playfit Wearable app

Those who purchase the smartwatch must download the Playfit app from the Google Play Store (Android 6.0 and above) or Apple App Store (iOS 12.0 and above). For some reason, it took some time to get it paired with the smartwatch, but after that, the application helps check all the health-related metrics in one place. On the home screen, the app showcases steps and the goal set by the user. The app displays all the metrics such as step count, calories, heart rate and blood oxygen. Users can head to the ‘Activity’ section if they want to watch their activities or workouts. Overall, the app is well-built and does the job decently.

Conclusion

For those who want a Bluetooth-calling smartwatch on a budget, the Playfit Strength is the go-to option. At ₹3,999, it is an excellent combination of style and functionality. Since the heart rate and SpO2 trackings of the watch are well precise, those who want to observe the stats can go for the watch as well.
